The concepts
Hello
I want to create a fiction website where people
actually enjoy what they read. One that lives up to the expectations that we all have when we
first start to read anything:
that what
we are reading will exceed or live up to our expectations!
And that is what I am going to do!
If it takes a while then it
takes a while. In the end it will be well worth the time and the effort.
So for all of you writers out there across the world you are not limited to the concepts I have suggested on the visitors home page:
Nothing except religious or political
propaganda is off limits
And for all of you
readers I’m going to bring to you the funniest, scariest, most intriguing
stories that I can find or write. Stories that you will want to read over and
over again. Stories that will make you think. Stories that
will make you cry or cheer or perhaps both. Stories
from all over the world. From all sorts of people.
I’d like to take this
opportunity to explain in a little more detail some of my www.JeffsShorts.com specific concepts:
Stories About arnika:
When someone mentions Godzilla we all know who Godzilla is. Who is
John Galt? Dracula? Spiderman?
All great characters of great fiction. That’s what I
want to do with arnika. I want to
create one of the great fictional characters of all time. A character so
universal that when someone says arnika they
immediately know who she is, and hopefully know about my site, and therefore…
They know all of us as well, the writers who
have created her!
I’m going to provide
photographs. You writers out there, take it wherever you want to go. The photo
provides a jumping off point for setting/plot/characterization. If you find
other arnika photos on the site you may
write about them also. I envision this as being the start of something big!
Short
Shorts
Part
of the fun of short fiction is reading a story that packs everything,
characterization, plot, setting, theme, everything into such few words. Short
shorts in www.JeffsShorts.com are
going to be two standard manuscript pages in length or less. That’s about 1000
words. I’ve got a story of mine that I just wrote that is only 16 words in length.
I want to challenge both the readers and writers here. Just how much can be
brought into such tight confines?

I’ll
keep this simple as it is simple. These are the editorial pages. Do you have
something to say about the world of short fiction? Write it and send and if I
like it I’ll publish it.

My site, my pages. As long as it pertains to short fiction I’m
going to write in these pages whatever I feel like writing.
Autobiographies
There will be
autobiographies linked to the authors name. autobiographies with pictures. That is if the writers so
choose. This is my way of celebrating the writer as well as what they have
written.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaEat Jeffs Shorts
This will be fiction about food. Cooking it. Eating it. Growing it. Enjoying it. Maybe even creating it in laboratories or in factories. Each story will have at least one recipe integral to the story itself. Recipes from all over the world, that appear so tasty that we want to head right to our kitchens or our backyard barbeques and try them out. If you are passionate about food, or dedicated to a healthy diet, or just want to read or write stories by and about those of who are, then this is the place to do it.
