Submissions & Writers Guidelines
- Love And Respect your characters. Be true to them. Make sure their words and actions reflect who they are.
- Your story will need a plot. Well created interesting characters doing nothing? Nothing Doing!
- Write your story the way it needs to be written. Do not write it in a manner that you think will get it published.
- Jeff's Shorts is open to any genre except religious/political recruitment.
- Protagonists may not smoke. No cigarettes, pipes, cigars, dope, crack. No exceptions.
- In stories for the Eat Jeff's Shorts section protagonists may smoke/use smoked food products in their recipes.
- Use spell check.
- Eat Jeff's Shorts: Every story must include at least one recipe that has both a list of ingredients and the technique including cooking time and temperature. The recipe must be a real, edible recipe. The story may be written in paragraph form or a standard recipe format. THE RECIPE MUST BE INTEGRAL TO THE STORY!
- Short Shorts: Keep the story to 1,000 words/2 standard pages.
- Poetry: Do not submit poetry for publication unless your poem is a story. Meaning it has to have a: Theme b: Plot c: Setting d: characterization. While I occasionally write and like poetry this is not a poetry magazine.
- Stories About Arnika: Write your story about what you see in the picture/pictures. Do not use wordsearch and substitute the name Arnika for another character in a previously written story. Granted, I have will have no way of telling if you do this.
- Writers Pages: Just send me anything you think interesting as long it falls under the scope of the magazine. Do not send reviews of JeffsShorts published stories. Do not send me negative reviews of anything.
